Panchakarma detoxification retreats

The stresses of modern life can lead us to make unhealthy diet and lifestyle choices and over time these choices take their toll. Toxic waste begins to accumulate, initially in the gastrointestinal tract, causing a range of digestive issues. If these toxins are allowed to accumulate further they eventually enter general circulation and create more serious symptoms elsewhere in the body. According to Ayurveda the underlying cause of most disease is the presence of such toxins and the earlier we can treat them, the better. Panchakarma is the process by which toxic metabolic waste is systematically and gently removed from the body using only natural substances and procedures*

At Ayurveda Lifestyle we offer residential Panchakarma retreats to clear toxins and to treat troublesome symptoms*. We also share practical ways in which Ayurvedic principles can be incorporated into everyday life through Ayurvedic counselling, personalised yoga, pranayama instruction, mandala art, cookery classes etc. Panchakarma is also the perfect time for reflection; to stand back and take stock of life without any of the usual day to day pressures. A crucial part of Panchakarma is the mental, emotional and physical space that it allows which in turn allows you to simply be yourself.

According to Ayurveda there are seven levels of tissue within the body where toxins may be stored: blood plasma, blood cells, muscle, fat, bone, nervous system and reproductive tissue. Each level of tissue is progressively deeper than the one before. During Panchakarma the subtle effect of treatments penetrates to a successively deeper level of tissue each day. Within seven days therefore treatments reach all seven levels right down into the nervous and reproductive systems which are both absolutely key to our mental and emotional well-being.

In order to prepare your body and mind for the process of Panchakarma we highly recommend a suitable detoxification diet and lifestyle for at least a month or two before you come for treatment: this clears the way for treatments to penetrate deeply as quickly possible. A diet and lifestyle suitable to your particular constitution can be discussed in an initial consultation with Sharon Jackson, our Ayurvedic Practitioner either in person or remotely.

When you return home you will be given recommendations to help continue the process of rejuvenation which can go on for some time if you are prepared to take a little extra care.

Many of our patients return to us every year or two and enjoy the great benefits of withdrawing from the speed of modern life, especially a complete digital detox with no news or TV. We recommend that you come with a very open mind and allow Panchakarma to unfold in a way that is right for you. No two retreats are ever the same.

Our purpose-built clinic in the Lincolnshire countryside is easily accessible from the A1 at Blyth roundabout and is within easy reach of mainline train stations in Retford and Doncaster, Robin Hood and Humberside Airports.

We only accept a maximum of two patients at a time in order to keep the experience peaceful and authentic and you should only consider Panchakarma if you are comfortable to spend time alone. For some people this can be quite a challenge so do please give it some thought.

The cost of Panchakarma is £280 per day which includes a daily consultation, three treatments per day, ensuite accommodation and all food and supplements needed during the retreat. One to one yoga and meditation classes and mandala art classes are also available at an additional cost.

You will find further detailed information by clicking on the following links Daily Schedule, Treatments, Gallery.

If you would like to find out about availability please email and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We are often booked more than a year in advance so do please plan as far ahead as possible.

'I am two years into my Ayurvedic journey with Sharon and want to thank her deeply for her continued support and advice. She has helped me to transform physically - I've lost 4 stone, so far, and my lifestyle now maintains this. A 7 day Panchakarma was both challenging and amazing and I've sustained the benefits. I'm planning 2 one day mini retreats during this year. I follow Ayurvedic principles (most of the time) and am so grateful for Sharon's thoughtful suggestions and encouragement. The process has enabled me to make gentle changes such as reducing medications. I love how I eat, move and feel. Thank you Sharon and your team.'

'Hi Sharon, I just wanted to say thank you for listening when I needed it and for really seeing me. Your certainty and understanding helped me turn a massive corner and things have been very different in the two years since Panchakarma. Since then I have gradually found balance and having a really practical toolbox to turn to has been so helpful. I am not stringent with the regime but have the tools to know how to look after myself, both mind and body, and so far they have given me the consistency and well being I was looking for. I am well, content and strong. I take time out when I feel on the edge, get early nights, eat good lunches; I see now how my old habits were my undoing. And as you predicted, after the Panchakarma week I didn't get any coughs or colds that winter; Panchakarma must do something amazingly cleansing! I won't witter on in a vata way but I wanted to let you know how much you have helped me; I needed your firm, compassionate guidance and for that I am eternally grateful'
